U.S. government training the Chinese

The U.S. Trade and Development Agency will sponsor approximately 25 training and cooperation seminars for Chinese industry and government officials through an initiative known as the U.S.-China Standards and Conformity Assessment Cooperation Program. The agency will provide matching funding for the events over the next three years. The funds will be administered as a grant to The American Chamber of Commerce (AmCam) in China.
AmCam retained the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) to organize the workshops and provide on-site assistance for the program. NEMA, a U.S. trade association, opened its Beijing office in 2004 as a fully registered Chinese representative office. Since then, it has sponsored electrical equipment industry events in China on issues such as energy efficiency and technical product standards.
