Changes in the global supply chain and the migration of industrial manufacturing plants away from the locations where they flourished due to globalization are causing a shift in the demand and supply of manufacturing technology equipment. Users and suppliers will have to reevaluate how they answer to the new realities and needs of the market, levels of the application of smart technologies, training and skills of the labor force, international trade rules and regulations, and safety and environmental standards. Suppliers will also have to make sure they satisfy the competitive expectations of the new normal: being agile, resilient, and customer-centric.
