Bosch Rexroth Corporation (www.boschrexroth.com) has added the new IndraMotion for Handling to its CMS Cartesian Motion System. The company says the new combination CMS will make it easier to specify, install and control Cartesian robotics systems because the new system is designed to eliminate the learning curve associated with programming and commissioning most point-to-point and assembly applications.

The new system uses Rexroth's L-40 and L-20 PLC-based motion controller as well as the VCP 08.2 HMI controller interface to provide intuitive and simple controls for Cartesian gantries with up to three linear axes (X, Y and Z) and three rotary axes (A, B and C). The system includes all necessary hardware and software with predefined motion function blocks to run pick-and-place and loading/unloading machinery.

The CMS is designed for payloads up to 25 kg (55.12 lb), speeds up to 1.0 m/sec, and acceleration rates up to 15 m/s_. Depending on the chosen axis combination and size, the motion system can execute strokes up to 1,000 mm (39.37 in.) in the X axis, 700 mm (27.56 in.) in the Y axis and 800 mm (31.5 in.) in the Z axis.

The CMS combines Compact Modules with mounting brackets, servomotors, controllers, cables, cable management and other necessary components to form a complete, ready-to-install handling system with a variety of communication interfaces.
