RP Machine Enterprises Inc. has bought the Statesville, N.C. division of Alpha/Sullivan Steel in an effort to expand its metal grinding operations.

The deal also allows RP Machine to add capabilities in magnetic lifting devices and other services. Financial terms of the purchase weren’t disclosed. The unit will be renamed Alpha Machining and Grinding Inc.

Statesville-based RP Machine sells and distributes machinery for making gears. Richard Piselli is the company’s founder and president. The company, established in 1992, also includes operations such as woodworking machinery and large-gear manufacturing.
