Hardinge Inc. released a new Bridgeport® five-axis vertical machining center, the GX-250 5AX, with a rigid C-frame design and a compact footprint. Those design details mean it will fit comfortably in most shops, but it’s also highly functional with a fully integrated, five-axis rotary table.
“The machine is ideally suited for the demanding requirements of the die/mold, aerospace, medical, and automotive industries,” Hardinge stated. The GX-250 5AX is designed to process small, complex workpieces that call for very close tolerances and fine surface finishes.
The axis travels for the GX-250 5AX are 11.8 in. (300 mm) X; 15.7 in. (400 mm) Y; 16.9 in. (430 mm) Z.
The Bridgeport GX-250 5AX is also a user-friendly choice thanks to the Fanuc 31i control and 10.4-in. LCD. The Fanuc system offers a range of standard features that include Manual Guide I, simultaneously controlled 5-axes, Macro Executer, high-speed processing, Look Ahead 1000 Blocks, NANO Smoothing, Tool Center Point Control, Tilted Working Plane Function, Polar Coordinate/Cylindrical/Helical Interpolation, and several more.
Optional functions include part probe, tool probe, auto door with light curtain, mist collector and C-axis encoder to name a few.
“The Bridgeport GX-250 5AX Machining Center offers a high degree of sophistication and functionality in a small footprint and at an attractive price,” stated Andy McNamara, Hardinge director of sales and marketing, North America. “Like all Bridgeport machining centers, this machine reflects Hardinge’s commitment to quality and performance without compromise.”
