AMT’s 3D vision-guided robotic cell.

To showcase its single-source engineering capabilities for the automation and manufacturing industries, Applied Manufacturing Technologies (AMT) displayed a 3D vision-guided robotic cell at one of the company’s openhouse events. The cell robot detected 3D positions of automotive parts loosely stacked inside a bin.

Featuring a Motoman EA1400N robot controlled by Motoman’s NX100 controller, the cell demonstrated a high level of robot guidance using more than two dimensions in a pick-and-place application. In addition, the cell eliminates the need for manual loading, so injuries associated with repetitive motion and other ergonomic problems are no longer issues.
