Fords U.K. technical center renews green power supply

Energy generated through renewable sources will provide electricity to Ford’s Dunton Technical Center in Essex, England. The car manufacturer said that its research and development center could continue to operate on power supplied by GDF’s renewable energy division.
It added that the 270-acre site would run mainly on hydropower but would also use electricity generated through wind power and biomass.
The Dunton Technical Centre is located near Basildon. It employs an engineering team of around 3,000 people who are responsible for developing engines for Ford vehicles. It has been receiving renewable energy-generated electricity from GDF since March 2008.
