Hurco machine tool profits up more than 33 percent

Hurco Companies, Inc. (www.hurco.com), a manufacturer of machine tools and automation with headquarters in Indianapolis, In., reported third-quarter profits increased more than a third over the same period in 2006. Earnings were $5.16 million, or 80 cents per share, compared to $3.80 million, 59 cents per share, for the same period in 2006.

The company manufactures Computer Numerically Controlled machine tools such as lathes and mills. The tools are used in aerospace, automotive, medical devices, industrial and off-road industries. Sales and service fees for the third quarter rose 33 percent to nearly $12 million. New orders for the third quarter totaled more than $48 million, a 28 percent increase over the same period in 2006. Most of the new orders came from the United States and Europe.
