GM To Reduce Full-Size Truck Production
GM announced that it is eliminating one shift of production at its full-size pickup truck assembly plants in Pontiac, Mich.; Flint, Mich.; and Oshawa, Ontario; and its full-size SUV assembly plant in Janesville, Wis. The decisions were made to bring production capacity more in line with market demand. Under this plan, approximately 88,000 units of full-size pickup and 50,000 units of full-size SUV production will be removed from GM's North American production capacity for the remainder of the 2008 calendar year.
GM expects to lay off about 3,550 workers as a result. Read More

Boeing Moves 787 Dreamliner Airframe To Testing
Continuing work on its new airliner, Boeing moved the 787 Dreamliner static test airframe from its Final Assembly facility in Everett to its structural test rig this evening. The test rig is located only 1,000 feet away from Final Assembly at the Everett factory. The company said some assembly remains to be completed on the static airframe. That work will be completed concurrently with test set-up. Test set up is expected to begin immediately, with tests commencing this summer Read More

Mazda To Launch New Sports Sedan
Mazda North American Operations said that it would launch an all-new Mazda sports sedan will launch later this year, with an expected on-sale date in late summer. The highly anticipated 2009 Mazda6 is the first of Mazda’s "Zoom-Zoom Evolution" second-generation vehicles, building on a heritage of sports sedans and sports cars that no other manufacturer can boast, and bringing a combination of sports sedan, sophistication, build quality and product insight not currently found in the market. Lockheed Martin Corporation said it has agreed to acquire Atlanta, Ga.-.-based Eagle Group International, LLC. Eagle Group , a provider of logistics, information technology, training and healthcare services to the U.S. Department of Defense. Read More

3M to Expand Manufacturing In Singapore
3M said it intends to build a new facility in Singapore to produce coatings for film-based products used in commercial, electronic and automotive applications. By establishing a local film coating center of excellence, the facility will help the company better serve the Asia market and support efforts to accelerate growth. Read More

Boeing Says its KC-767 Tanker Holds Less Risk For Warfighters, Taxpayers
The Boeing Company said its KC-767 would be a lower-risk aerial refueling tanker for the American military and taxpayers than the Airbus A330-based KC-30, and it would be superior in the areas of cost, production, schedule and capability. Read More

3M has introduced a new cold shrink inline splice kit designed to splice the heavy-duty cables used by power utilities and heavy industry 46kV solid dielectric power cable. The new 3M Cold Shrink Splice Kit QS-III 5545A is designed for cables with a conductor size range from 4/0 AWG-1000 kcmil, that carry high voltage power. Read More
