The XV Series VMCs have spindle motors that are directly attached to the spindle units. The manufacturer reports the design reduces noise, backlash, and vibration experienced by spindles driven by belts or gears. Besides the 10,000-rpm, high-torque Fanuc Vector Drive AC spindle motors, the machines feature servomotors with absolute encoders; high-speed, swing-arm ATCs; and random access and bidirectional tool magazines. Machine tables range from 27.6 3 16.5 in. to 53.1 3 20.4 in. and 660 to 2,200-lb load capacities for the three models.
