Mori Seiki's NV5000 vertical machining centers provide X/Y/Z travels of 31.5 by 20.1 by 20.1 inches and rapids of 1,654 ipm. The company says the VCMs' 12,000-rpm spindle drives use direct drive spindle (DDS) gearless technology to reach full speed in 0.97 seconds. The interface for these machines is the company's MAPPS operator panel. www.moriseiki.com
