The new design of the HSM 400U five-axis high-speed machining center's rotational axes reportedly allows speeds up to 25 faster than conventional rotary tables. The rotation axis goes up to 250 rpm and the swivel axis to 150 rpm with a swivel range of ±110°. Spindle motors are liquid-cooled with hybrid ceramic ball bearings for 30,000, 42,000, or 60,000-rpm speeds.

The HSM 400U tackles wet or dry machining and mills graphite electrodes. It includes a standard integral workpiece changer, Heidenhain control system, and standard integral pallet magazine and changer.
