Designed on a common platform for mass production of compact workpieces, Mori Seiki's NX series features horizontal and vertical machining centers and a turning center.

The machines measure 26.8-in. wide and 90.4-in. deep and handle workpieces up to 5.5 in. in diameter and 3.9-in. tall. Adding a gantry loader, robot, or palletcarriage system allows automated movement of workpieces through the machines. In addition, as production requirements change, the machines have plug-and-play flexibility that lets them be repositioned to form the desired module for efficient cycle times.

Mori's Driven at the Center of Gravity (DCG) technology, along with box-in box construction, ensures rapid acc/dec rates with minimal vibration. Rapid traverse rates up to 1,969 ipm along all three axes of each machine further reduces noncutting time.

Designers of the NX Series also engineered in features that simplify maintenance. For example, the 12,000-rpm (or optional 20,000-rpm) spindle-cartridge design is easily exchanged even when maintenance personnel have only limited access to the front of the machine. Furthermore, the main electrical box is mounted on hinges, so it swings to the side for accessing the machine from the rear.

Initial offerings in the NX Series include the NX2000V vertical machining center, NX2000H horizontal machining center, and NX2000T turning center. All machines accept HSK-A40 tooling with a maximum length of 7.1 in.
