Japan's Okuma Corp., Okuma & Howa Machinery Ltd., and Okuma Engineering Co. Ltd. are combining managements into one holding company, Okuma Holdings.
The merger is expected to be completed by October. Okuma Corp.'s President Junro Kashiwa will become president of Okuma Holdings, and Okuma & Howa President Toshiharu Toyama will serve as executive vice president.
Okuma Engineering refurbishes production and inspection equipment used in LCD and semiconductor manufacturing.
Bilbao, Spain. . . .Exhibitor registration is underway for the 2005 Industry & Technology Summit (Cumbre Industrial y Tecnológica 2005), to be held Sept. 27-Sept. 30. In all, 10 interlinked events make up the summit. The 2005 edition will be housed in the new Bilbao Exhibition Centre, a complex comprising six exhibition halls without visual barriers. The 2003 edition hosted 32 delegations from 48 countries.
Lake Mary, Fla. . . .Faro Technologies Inc. received about $1.7 million in Laser Tracker orders from Airbus S.A.S. This includes seven Laser Trackers for Airbus UK's A380 wing-assembly plant and five more for Airbus France's A380 fuselage-assembly plant, where an earlier installation took place.
