The modified internal design of Schunk's Tendo hydraulic toolholders resembles a spray-nozzle system without pockets or "dead areas" and reduces coolant consumption to 0.01 gallon/hr. The minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) coolant-air mixture sprays into working areas between tools and workpieces to reduce friction and temperature. Coolant evaporation, along with the flow of compressed air, provides additional tool cooling.
The MQL system is well-suited for drilling, deep-hole drilling, milling, threading, and turning applications. Schunk engineers say with well-adjusted systems the coolant almost completely evaporates in the working area leaving swarf, workpiece, and tooling almost completely dry.

Customized miniturrets
Multitask miniturrets with CoroTurn SL adaptor plates, cutting heads, and blades are for turning and grooving. Four cutting heads integrate into one toolholder for internal and external use to reduce tool-change time and maximize tool-magazine space. Two sizes of adaptor plates are for axial and radial assembly.
