Sandvik Coromant (www.coromant.sandvik.com/us) has added GC4225 inserts to its series of ISO P turning grades. The ISO P25 grade primarily is used for roughing and finishing universal steel-turning operations.
GC4225 inserts have an Al2O3 coating for chemical wear resistance, a MTCVD TiCN coating for mechanical wear resistance and a gradient substrate with cobalt for hardness and toughness. The company says the inserts' geometries and features produce good surface finishes, high feed rates and cutting speeds, and improved plastic deformation and crater wear resistance.
