Metalworking Fluids

The right metalworking fluids for the job can increase productivity and efficiency while cutting costs.

Semi-synthetic fluids:
Want to run machining operations cleaner, improve machine sump lives and increase cutting tool longevity? One shop switched to semi-synthetics and increased tool life by 20 percent while increasing sump life 40 percent. It also eliminated its need for tapping oil.

Running water-soluble fluids instead of straight oils:
Water-soluble metalworking fluids can deliver lubricity comparable to straight oils. In grinding tests, water-soluble fluids have increased grinding ratios (volume of material removed per unit volume of wheel wear) while reducing the grinding energy required for the job.

Switching from mineral-based to pure synthetic oils:
Gain 5 percent better lubricity, experience 60 percent slower evaporation levels, extend grinding wheel life over 50 percent, prevent bacteria buildup and eliminate cobalt/carbide leaching by incorporating 100 percent pure synthetic oils.

Problems associated with running straight oil can be eliminated while increasing wheel life and stock removal rates beyond those of water-based fluids.

Vegetable-oil-based fluids help meet tight tolerance requirements for difficult machining and grinding operations.
