Ohio gives grant to support Boeing expansion in Heath

The State of Ohio has awarded Boeing Company (www.boeing.com) a $200,000 Rapid Outreach Grant to support the company’s expansion in Heath, Ohio. The State Controlling Board approved the grant that will help to retain 587 positions at Boeing's Guidance Repair Center.

"Boeing's new high-tech product development center is a forward-thinking, innovative project that positions Ohio out in front in embracing technologies of the future," said Ohio Lt. Governor Fisher, who also serves as director of the Ohio Department of Development. "Boeing's investment not only diversifies and advances productivity and capabilities, but is a symbol of Ohio's commitment to supporting advanced manufacturing."

Boeing will reconfigure its facility and complete on-site infrastructure work to establish a Virtual Manufacturing Center at the Heath Guidance Repair Center. The Virtual Manufacturing Center will visually provide a display that communicates real-time engineering and technical information in order to determine solutions to manufacturing processes. It is an interactive computer-based environment allowing engineers to tangibly demonstrate new design and simulation scenarios. The Virtual Manufacturing Center will utilize multiple formats such as the internet, 3-dimensional modeling, workstations, and scalable modeling.
