GE Transportation Competing For 1,000 Locomotive Contract In India
GE Transportation, a unit of General Electric
Company and global diesel locomotive technology leader, and Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd joined forces to compete for a 1,000 diesel locomotive tender issued by Indian Railways. GE was recently shortlisted by the Indian Railways to compete for this tender. GE and BHEL along with Indian Railways intend to form a Joint Venture company for this purpose. Read More

GE To Supply Gas Turbines For Port Arthur Refinery Expansion
GE Oil & Gas has been awarded a contract to provide gas turbines for the Motiva Port Arthur Refinery Expansion Project, which will create the largest refinery in the United States and one of the top 10 in the world. This will mark the first U.S. installation of the Frame 6B generator packages manufactured by GE Oil & Gas. Read More

Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne Completes Design Review Of Rocket Engine
Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne has taken a major step toward powering the nation’s next-generation space launch vehicle with the completion of the J-2X engine Critical Design Review (CDR). Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne is a United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX) company.

Starting in 2014, the J-2X rocket engine will power the Ares I rocket into space, helping deliver the Orion crew exploration vehicle, its crew of astronauts and small payloads to the International Space Station. Read More

GE's CFM56-7B Jet Engine Receives Certification
CFM International's advanced CFM56-7B27A/3 engine model has been jointly certified by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration and the European Aviation Safety Agency for the U.S. Navy's P-8A Poseidon, paving the way for flight tests in 2009 and initial operational capability in 2013. The Navy plans to purchase 108 P-8As to replace its fleet of P-3C aircraft. Read More
