3M Aerospace Increases Global Capacity
3M Aerospace and Aircraft Maintenance Department announced its intent to build an Aerospace-focused factory in Wroclaw, Poland. An addition to its sister factory in Springfield, Mo., the Poland facility will significantly increase 3M's manufacturing capacity for structural bonding adhesives and surface protection products. The factory is expected to be operational by late 2009. Read More

Work Begins On First Boeing Business Jet 3
Boeing has begun work on the first Boeing Business Jet 3 (BBJ 3). The BBJ 3 is a new, larger business jet based on the Boeing Next-Generation 737-900ER (extended range), which entered commercial service and was certified by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration in April 2007. Certification by the European Aviation Safety Agency occurred in April 2008. Read More

Bell Helicopter Gets $30 Million Contract To Improve OH-58D Aircraft
Bell Helicopter, a Textron Inc. company, began to upgrade the engines and computers on of 27 OH-58D aircraft for the Kiowa Warrior Safety Enhancement Program. A total of 27 aircraft from the 1-230th Air Cavalry Squadron of the Tennessee Army National Guard will be upgraded as part of Lot 11 of the Safety Enhancement Program. The $30 million contract, awarded April 30, calls for three aircraft to be completed in 2008, and the remaining 24 aircraft to be delivered in 2009. The work will be done at Bell Helicopter's Plant 1 facility in Fort Worth, Texas. Read More
