Johnson Controls Gets BioEnergy Grant To Develop Batteries
As a part of Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle's Clean Energy Wisconsin Plan, Johnson Controls-Saft was awarded a $500,000 Bio Energy Grant. The company was chosen for this grant due to its leadership in developing innovative, clean energy projects, specifically for the advanced technology R&D and commercialization efforts for lithium-ion hybrid vehicle batteries. The company's Battery Technology Center in Milwaukee is one of the most sophisticated automotive battery research and development facilities in the United States. Read More

Caterpillar To Introduce "Next Generation" Mining Trucks
Caterpillar Inc. is unveiling the next generation of mining trucks at MINExpo 2008 in Las Vegas, NV. Along with improved safety features, Tier 2 compliant engines and new integrated technologies in the existing Cat mining fleet, the company has developed electric drive mining trucks that will debut at the expo September 22-24, 2008. Lockheed Martin Gets Contract to Develop Joint Air-To-Ground Missile
Lockheed Martin has been awarded a $122 million technology development contract for the Joint Air-to-Ground Missile (JAGM) system. The next-generation missile will be carried on U.S. Armed Forces rotary-wing, fixed-wing and unmanned aerial system (UAS) platforms. Read More

Lockheed Martin To Build Spacecraft To Study Mars' Atmosphere
Lockheed Martin has been selected by NASA to design, build and operate the spacecraft for NASA's Atmosphere and Volatile EvolutioN (MAVEN) program. NASA's newest mission will analyze the upper atmosphere and past climate change on Mars. The $485-million project is led by principal investigator Bruce Jakosky of the University of Colorado's Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP). NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center will manage the mission. Read More
