The FF-SM series safety mat from the Honeywell Micro Switch Division can detect the presence of a load greater than 66.1 lb anywhere on its surface. The mats come in eight sizes and can be connected in a series.

Rockwell Automation, Milwaukee, has developed the Allen-Bradley Zero-Force touch button, which, unlike a traditional push button, requires no operator pressure to activate it. The device uses a field-effect sensing technology, which converts light human touch into an electrical output that initiates operation.
The Epinus noncontact switch from the French company BTI detects the opening of protective doors on machinery and triggers a safety reaction. The switch has a strong magnetic latching ability and a 1-msec response time.
