EdgeCAM’s Lathe Set-Up command now allows clearer definitions of Main and Sub-Spindle components. For programmers or operators, this leads to a better understanding of which machining features are active, and means multiple transfers can be made between spindles.
Cuts Two Ways
The Advanced 5-Axis Cycle capability has a new Port Machining module with both roughing and finishing strategies. The toolpath reaches the full area with a single approach, offering two types of cut pattern.
Creating Uniform Profiles
The program’s internal modelling software, EdgeCAM Workflow Solids, has numerous enhancements, including a new Slotting Tool command for creating uniform profiles. It adopts any profile shape quickly, adding width and depth to the feature as needed, including fillets and corner blends.
Checking Links Between Cycles
The latest release delivers additional collision avoidance by checking Link moves between all Milling cycles. Link moves are now automatically checked against Stock and Fixtures, with the tool retracting to a safe height where collisions are detected.
More Corner Relief
Programmers of Wire EDM machines will find more advanced control functions for 2- and 4-axis machining cycles. Corner Relief functionality been added, and the system offers four variants of the command. For example, where a razor sharp edge is required on external corners, the Loop control is selected, while choosing Circle creates relief on an internal corner.
Simulating Probing Cycles
Edgecam 2015 R2 supports touch probes from M&H. Users can measure workpieces and simulate the probe movements with six individual probing cycles. Each cycle has been enhanced with eight new functions, meaning a wider choice of inspection data.
