Fairbanks Morse Defense - the manufacturer of power and propulsion systems for the U.S. Navy and other allied navies, and for some commercial vessels - is buying U.K.-based Truflo Marine for $295 million, subject to regulatory approval. Truflo Marine is a designer and manufacturer of high-integrity valves, actuators, and control systems for naval and nuclear applications, with technology in place on vessels for 34 allied navies. Its products include ball valves, hydraulic and pneumatic actuators, and pressure reducing stations.
The sale agreement involves the holding companies for the two manufacturers, Arcline Investment Management for the buyer, and IMI plc for Truflo.
Truflo’s Birmingham, England, operation will and approximately 270 employees will become part of the Fairbanks Morse Defense organization. Pending regulatory approval the acquisition is seen closing in mid-2026.
Other companies within the FMD portfolio include Federal Equipment CO., Hunt Valve, American Fan, and Research Tool & Die Works, and several more.
FMD stated the acquisition will enhance its valve design, engineering, and manufacturing capabilities and strengthens its ability to support allied naval submarine and surface vessels worldwide.
