Leasing group contracts for 1,050 International vehicles now, more bookings to come soon Orders spaced over three years International ProStar, LoneStar series Cummins diesel engines

Navistar’s International Truck business has scored a large order to supply as many as 9,000 new Class 8 trucks, from an unnamed provider of fleet and owner-operated truck leasing services. The estimated value of the order was not revealed. Deliveries would be scheduled over the next three years.

"This customer has experienced our new products firsthand and their International models are leading the way in fuel economy performance when compared to competitive models," according to Bill Kozek, president of Navistar Truck and Parts.

International is a brand of commercial and military trucks produced by the Navistar subsidiary. Class 8 is a designation for trucks with gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) exceeding 33,000 lbs., meaning most highway-ready tractor trailers for freight transport. The International brand includes several series of Class 8s, which usually have three or more axles.

The new order covers 1,050 new Class 8 on-highway tractors, initially, and the same customer indicated it intends to increase its order with an additional 7,950 trucks later this month, for delivery through the end of 2017.

International said the new orders would include a range its International® ProStar® and LoneStar® vehicles, powered by Cummins® ISX-15 engines.

In 2012, Navistar established a long-term agreement with Cummins Inc. for for supply of both heavy-duty diesel engines and emissions after-treatment technologies, in order to comply with EPA standards for commercial vehicles. Navistar incorporated the Cummins ISX15 diesels in its International ProStar+, PayStar and 9900 trucks, and it adopted the Cummins Emission Solutions after-treatment system for carbon-emission control on its own heavy-duty big bore engine models.

"Customers continue to recognize that the heavy-duty products we are building today are among the best we have built in decades, with uptime and fuel economy performance that leads the industry," stated Kozek.
