Some idle product lines to be revived

Jet Edge Inc. has acquired Calypso Water-jet Systems for an unreported price. Both companies manufacture water-jet cutting machinery, though their auxiliary product lines offer additional diversity.

St. Michael, MN-based Jet Edge designs and manufacturers water-jet systems for precision cutting, surface preparation, and coating removal in a range of industries, including aircraft and aerospace manufacturing, automotive, general industry, and machine and job shops.

Calypso Waterjet Systems, headquartered in Dallas, had been a global manufacturer of water-jet cutting systems before exiting the sector earlier this year. Jet Edge President Jude Lague indicated many former Calypso products will be reintroduced under the original brand names.

Calypso’s products include: water-jet cutting machines, abrasive removal, closed-loop water, and automatic height sensing systems; nesting software; plastic water jet cutting bricks; bulk abrasive feeder tanks; and replacement parts for water-jet intensifier pumps, cutting heads, and water-jet tables.

“Calypso water-jets provide an excellent entry-level water-jet solution for price-conscious buyers,” according to Lague. “Through our acquisition of Calypso, we will be able to make precision water-jet cutting capabilities available to a much broader range of customers in the growing entry-level market.”
