Precision Laser Inc. (www.prelas.com), a laser welding company based in Manitoba, Canada, is opening a new facility in Lawrenceburg, Tenn and expects to hire at least 150 employees over the next 18 months.

The announcement was made by Lawrence County Industrial recruiter Chad Chancellor who said Lawrence County has been trying to lure the company since April. “They looked all over the south but the main thing is we had the building they were looking for,” Chancellor said. “More than sixty people had a hand in this,” he added.

The city and county pitched in with some in-kind work to make the building more industry ready. Precision Laser will begin hiring almost immediately. They will be hiring a General Manager in the next couple of weeks and then begin looking for their skilled labor force. “They’ll be hiring a lot of welders,” Chancellor said.

The company figures to have up to 75 people on the workforce before the end of the year and then add another 75 next year. “It takes a while for these things to ramp up,” Chancellor said.
