Navistar’s Engine Group finalized a six-year supply agreement with a Turkish manufacturer and will supply its MaxxForce diesel engines for buses, for the Turkish domestic and other foreign markets. The value of the six-year contract was not released.

Otokar manufactures buses for the Turkish market, including hybrid urban buses.

“This is another step in Navistar’s execution of our global growth strategy which leverages our capability to serve regions with Euro emission standards,” stated Navistar Engine Group president Eric Tech. “As emission standards advance across the globe, companies continue to look at Navistar as a technology leader who can serve their needs today and in the future.”

Two, inline four-cylinder versions of Navistar’s MaxxForce diesel engines will be supplied: the MaxxForce 3.2, Euro V, Advanced EGR System engines to power Otokar Midbuses for the Turkish and European markets; and MaxxForce 3.0, Euro III, for 6.5-ton Minibuses and 9-ton Midbuses for export to North Africa and the Middle East.

Production will begin in March 2011 for the MaxxForce 3.0 engines, and in early 2012 for the MaxxForce 3.2. All the engines will be manufactured in Brazil by Navistar’s affiliate MWM International Motores.
