Starrett acquires Kinemetric Engineering

The L.S. Starrett Co. (www.starrett.com), a supplier of precision measuring tools and equipment based in Athol, Mass., has acquired Kinemetric Engineering, LLC of Laguna Hills, Calif. (www.kinemetric.com) for $2.3 million.

Kinemetric specializes in precision video-based metrology, specialty motion devices and custom engineered systems for measurement and inspection. Kinemetric’s product line complements Starrett’s existing metrology products that include optical measuring projectors and vision systems.

“This acquisition brings new managerial and engineering talent to Starrett and expands our strategic focus to provide custom engineered solutions for industry,” said Douglas A. Starrett, president and chief executive officer of Starrett. Kinemetric was a long-time technical partner of Starrett before the acquisition.
