American Axle and Manufacturing To Host Teleconference On UAW Contract
American Axle amd Manufacturing Holdings, Inc. said that the tentative agreements with the International UAW reached on May 16, 2008, covering approximately 3,650 AAM associates at five facilities in Michigan and New York, were ratified. Boeing Names Lund to Lead Commercial Airplanes Product Development
Boeing announced that Elizabeth Lund has been named vice president of Product Development for Boeing Commercial Airplanes. Lund will be responsible for leading preliminary design of new and derivative airplanes and systems, and environmental performance strategy. Lund also will manage the overall research and development plan across Commercial Airplanes, and support the Product Strategy and Advanced Technology organizations within Commercial Airplanes and Phantom Works. Boeing Flies A160T Hummingbird Unmanned Rotorcraft for 18 Hours
The Boeing Company said it successfully flew its A160T Hummingbird unmanned rotorcraft for 18.7 hours on May 14-15, and claims an unofficial world endurance record for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that weigh between 1,102 and 5,511 pounds (500 to 2,500 kilograms). Read More

General Dynamics Gets $6 Million Contract For Nuclear Submarine Maintenance
The U. S. Navy awarded General Dynamics Electric Boat a $6 million contract modification for management and nuclear maintenance work on submarines stationed at Submarine Base New London, Conn. Electric Boat is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics. Under the terms of the contract modification, Electric Boat will continue to operate the Nuclear Regional Maintenance Department (NRMD) at the submarine base through Sept. 30, 2008. The company will provide project management, planning, training, and radiological-control services to support maintenance, modernization and repairs in support of operational submarines. About 25 Electric Boat employees are assigned to the NRMD. Read More
