BorgWarner Approves $125 Million To Expand Turbocharger Production in North America, Europe & Asia
Directors of BorgWarner Inc. approved investments of approximately $125 million to increase the company's global passenger car turbocharger capacity by more than three million units. The increased capacity is expected to meet growing demand for the company's fuel-efficient turbocharger technology and will support new business awards in North America, Europe and Asia. The investments include construction of new facilities in Mexico and Thailand, and expansion of facilities in Hungary and Poland. The added capacity will produce turbochargers for both diesel and gasoline engines. The spending for these projects will occur over the next few years. Read More

Rolls-Royce Names Senior Team for New US Facility
Rolls-Royce has appointed Bob Stoddart and Tom Loehr to lead the development of Crosspointe, its new aero engine facility to be built in Prince George County, Virginia. Effective immediately, Stoddart becomes Executive Vice President (EVP) and Loehr becomes Deputy Executive Vice President (EVP), Crosspointe. Read More

Lockheed-Martin Completes Main Engine Testing for 1st Littoral Combat Ship
Lockheed Martin said the team working on the production of the nation's first Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) has completed tests of the ship’s main propulsion diesel engines. The 378-foot Freedom is being built by the Lockheed Martin-led team to help the U.S. Navy defeat growing littoral - or close-to-shore - threats and provide access and dominance in coastal water battlespace. Pratt & Whitney Selects Goodrich as Nacelle System Provider for Geared Turbofan Engines
Pratt & Whitney, a division of United Technologies Corp., said it selected Goodrich Corporation to be the exclusive provider of the complete nacelle systems for its new Geared Turbofan engine for both the Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ) and the Bombardier CSeries aircraft families. The award is expected to generate more than $5 billion in original equipment and aftermarket revenue for Goodrich during the 25-year period following entry into service. Read More

First Boeing 777 Freighter Leaves Factory
Boeing said progress continues on its first 777 Freighter as the company's newest cargo airplane was towed out of its factory in Everett, Wash. and onto the flight line Tuesday night. Work will continue on the 777 Freighter to prepare for flight test this summer and to paint the airplane in the Boeing livery. The 777 Freighter will fly farther and provide more capacity than any other twin-engine cargo airplane. Read More
