Able Electropolishing Co. (www.ableelectropolishing.com) plans to open a 16,000 sq. ft. plant near Reno, Nev., in late fall of 2006.
The facility will provide quick service to many major western manufacturing centers via overnight trucking. Potential customers include companies in semiconductor, medical, automotive, and aerospace/defense industries.
Electropolishing is a metal finishing process that uses a combination of chemicals and electrical current to dissolve surface defects on metal. Initially, the process was used to brighten stainless steel, but is now used on hundreds of metal alloys to remove burrs, eliminate metal contamination, reduce friction, and improve corrosion resistance.
