American Medical Instruments to acquire Point Technologies

Adds laser welding, device assembly, wire and tube grinding with acquisition

Point Technologies Inc. (www.pointtech.com) will add laser welding, device assembly, wire and tube grinding to its list of technologies with its acquisition by American Medical Instruments Holdings Inc., a privately held holding company, based in Lake Forest, Ill., for medical device manufacturers. Point Technologies, which serves the biotech, medical device and semiconductor industries, has expertise in precision pointing, cutting, and micro-machining for small diameter wire and tubing. It will become the original equipment manufacturing division of American Medical by taking over the resources of the Inter-V (www.interv.net) original equipment manufacturing division. This division includes Manan Medical Products, Medical Device Technologies, and American Medical Instruments. The new division will have manufacturing sites in Boulder, Colorado; Gibbon, Minn.; Wheeling, Ill.; Gainesville, Fla.; Dartmouth, Mass.; and Heredia, Costa Rica.
