Agie, Charmilles and Mikron merge

Nov. 1, 2006

Agie, Charmilles and Mikron North America announced Nov. 1 that they are consolidating their North American sales and customer support teams under the name of Agie Charmilles Corp. and will establish a new, expanded headquarters in Lincolnshire, Ill.
The merger of the Agie and the Charmilles sales teams comes on the heels of the complete acquisition of Charmilles by Georg Fischer Manufacturing Technology Group, which acquired a majority interest in Charmilles in 1996 and acquired Mikron later. The companies' business operations, including accounting and human resources, were merged previously.
Harry Moser, president of Agie Charmilles Corp., said the single sales force will represent the two EDM brands and the high-speed milling machines the companies sell.
The merged companies will retain 30 dealers who will sell all three products, and plans call for the establishment of seven demonstration centers across North America.
