GE Fanuc Automation Americas Inc., Charlottesville, Va., has released a new version of software that the company says streamlines and unifies its manufacturing controls.

GE Fanuc says its Proficy Machine Edition Version 5.50 simplifies troubleshooting, decreases training time and boosts productivity for users. The software is equipped with symbolic input/output variables that the company says reduce application-development time because they tie application variables directly to the point of an input/output module.

GE Fanuc also says the software provides a monitor mode for a "look and do not touch" interface to the running application, Asian-language capabilities and an optional user interface look and feel for ease of use.
