A new finishing and deburring wheel delivers satin finishes on critical parts such as turbine blades and orthopedic implants. Key to the performance of the Scotch-Brite SF wheel is a special combination of a convolute construction with a resin system that provides dense and uniform mineral distribution throughout the wheel. This combination, says maker 3M Abrasive Systems Division, St. Paul, results in a fast-cutting and long-lasting tool, even when smoothing out burrs.

"The new wheel can tackle three surface finishing elements — finishing, blending, and deburring — in one operation," claims Ross McLean, the firm's marketing manager. In addition, the wheel breaks down consistently, providing a reliable finish throughout its operating life.

Wheels come in three standard diameters: 6, 8, and 12 in., in both fine and medium grades.
