Combines hydrodynamic bearings with bearing isolator technologies

As 2009 closed out, Dover Corp.’s Waukesha Bearings subsidiary acquired Inpro/Seal Co. for an undisclosed price. Other details of the transaction also were not released.

Wisconsin-based Waukesha Bearings manufactures custom-engineered hydrodynamic bearings and magnetic bearing systems for gas, steam, and hydro turbines, centrifugal gas compressors, gearboxes, pumps and motors. It is an operating unit of Dover's Fluid Management Segment.

Inpro/Seal designs and manufactures bearing isolator technologies.

Dover said the acquisition adds an “adjacent product” to Waukesha's series of offerings, one that it believes it can successful expand from North America to global markets. It said Waukesha would realize synergies through Dover's global sourcing initiatives and from joint technology development as manufacturers and end-users of rotating equipment seek more advanced, integrated solutions.

Fluid Management president and CEO William Spurgeon stated: "Inpro/Seal is an excellent fit with Waukesha. The acquisition of the market leader in engineered bearing isolators is consistent with Dover's strategy of pursuing bolt-on companies with long-term growth potential. Inpro/Seal's market position and commitment to innovation make it a great addition to Waukesha Bearings and to our Energy platform."
