Open Mind Technologies USA, Inc. (www.openmind-tech.com), the developer of hyperMILL Computer Aided Machining (CAM) software recently appointed three new dealers to service Canada and the South-Central region of the United States to augment the direct sales efforts from its offices in Boston, Detroit, Chicago and Los Angeles.

The viewpoints expressed by those new dealers are interesting insights into today’s integrated CAD/CAM market and worth repeating:

NexGen Manufacturing Systems, Inc. (www.ngms.us), based in Louisville, Ky., was founded by Charles Davis to sell, train and support Integrated CAM software in

the South-Central United States. Davis’ twenty years of experience with stand-alone CAD/CAM software convinced him that Integrated CAM systems significantly improve CNC manufacturing efficiency.

“Integrated CAM is a game changer for this industry. The advantages are overwhelming. Integrated CAM eliminates translation errors, gives manufacturing departments full knowledge of the design intent, associates tool paths with the CAD model and provides several other advantages. This new method of linking design and manufacturing significantly improves efficiency, reduces labor and errors, and streamlines the entire model-to-part process.” Davis said.

Solid Code Solutions (www.solidcodesolutions.com), based in Vancouver, Canada, represents, trains, and supports best-in-class CAM software tools from British Columbia to Manitoba.

“Manufacturing now is globally competitive, which increases demands for dynamic solutions that respond even faster to changes, and to find new ways to reduce costs, and continually improve quality and reduce mistakes,” Keith Clausen, founder of Solid Code Solutions, said.

“While most understand the theoretical advantage of Integrated CAD/CAM, many companies are still sitting on the sidelines, perhaps unsure if the promise of a unified system has become a practical option. Such phrases as, “In a perfect world” are common when discussing Integrated CAD/CAM systems. Some are afraid to even look at anything other than their legacy standalone CAD/CAM system, reasoning that if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it. But in today’s manufacturing environment, complacency does not mean standing still, it means falling behind,” he added.

HM Technologies Inc. services Open Mind products in Quebec and Canada’s eastern provinces.

“The Quebec economy has a very strong outlook, especially for high value products including aerospace, mold and medical industries,” Jean- Marc Brunet, HM Technologies sales and marketing director, said.

“To compress cycle times, companies demand strong 2.5D, 3x and 5x milling cycles in one system. Open Mind’s hyperMILL is one of the few solutions on the market today to be competitive in all classes of milling. With standalone solutions as well as direct integration into industry-leading CAD systems such as SolidWorks, Pro/Engineer and Inventor, companies are always working off the latest part models and receive instant feedback when engineering changes are made. hyper- MILL combines high-end functionality with a short learning curve.”

Open Mind Technologies USA provides sales and service of the high-performance hyperMILL CAM software in North and South America. hyperMILL provides 2.5D, 3D, HSC, and 5-axis milling solutions, and hyperMILL millTURN modules, as well as being completely integrated with SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, ProENGINEER Wildfire, and other leading CAD packages.
