The Accretech Surfcom 1900SD/DX surface/ contourmeasuring device uses a linear motor with a noncontact drive and simple structure (no lead screw or gear box) for stable, vibration-free operation over extended speeds. It moves up to 0.118 ips (3 mm/sec) for roughness measurements, 0.787 ips (20 mm/sec) for waviness measurements, and 2.36 ips (60 mm/sec) for movement. A surface-roughness detector has a 1,000-µm measuring range and 500,000 magnification. There is also a contour detector for profile measurements of difficult parts. It has an accuracy of 2.5 µm with a maximum range of 1.97 in. (50 mm).
