E&E Manufacturing, a Michigan producer of automotive stampings, has been accredited by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) to the ISO/IEC 17025:2005 standard for ferrous and non-ferrous metals, is to ISO/IEC 17025:2005 standards. The certification entitles E&E to conduct a variety of tests, including hardness, microstructure, case depth, micro and macro etching, surface condition, weld procedure qualifications, among others. It also may conduct non-destructive testing, like magnetic particle inspection and liquid dye penetration.

“We’re very pleased,” the company’s president, Wes Smith, reported. “In addition to the testing we’ve offered for years, this accreditation also includes several new testing services that will enable us to better serve both existing and new customers alike.”

The president emphasized that the gaining the accreditation was a team effort. E&E Manufacturing is a 48-year-old producer of small and medium-sized stampings, for automotive, military, and industrial markets. It has plants in Plymouth, Mich., and Athens, Tenn.

The A2LA is a non-profit public-service society that provides comprehensive laboratory accreditation and lab-related training to public and private organizations. A2LA certification depends on strict criteria, including on-site evaluation and assessment. Accredited companies are subject to an annual review and must participate in proficiency programs when available and where relevant.

“The benefit for our customers is obvious,” explained E&E director of business development Kellen Lynch. “We can help them market their products and services with the assurance to their customers that ISO/IEC standards have been met. I’m eager to extend this opportunity to new customers whose products require such certification.”
