CNC distributor to add dimensional measuring product lines

Hexagon Metrology Inc. and Hartwig Inc. are forming a regional partnership that will see the latter distributing the former’s dimensional measuring products in 14 states. Hexagon, North Kingston, R.I., supplies metrology equipment and software; Hartwig is the largest CNC machine-tool and cutting solutions distributor in the Central and Mountain states of the U.S.

The new partners say each of them will be more effective at serving regional manufacturers, specifically in the aerospace, defense, automotive, energy, wind-energy, and heavy machinery markets.

“Hartwig is extremely excited to join the Hexagon Metrology distribution network,” stated Hartwig Inc. president Gary Hartwig. “Not only are the products an ideal complement to the existing machine tool lines that we already sell, they represent the broadest portfolio of products in the dimensional metrology market and give us a wealth of new solutions to offer our customers.”

Hartwig’s eight regional offices will become authorized distributors of Hexagon’s quality-control products for manufacturing, including programmable coordinate measuring machines, portable articulated arms, and software from Brown & Sharpe, ROMER and PC-DMIS.

“Hartwig is a prime example of the modern industrial distributor,” stated Hexagon president and CEO Angus Taylor. “By offering comprehensive solutions to the industrial market that cover all stages from design through manufacture, they truly can offer complete solutions to their customers. Hartwig’s existing experience in the metrology market means that they will be able to quickly and seamlessly integrate our product portfolio into their extensive offering of solutions for manufacturing.”
