Notes from IMTS 2014: Candy for the Crowd

IMTS counted 98,169 pre-show registrants, and that number is expected to rise. The 2.6 million square feet of McCormick Place is flooded with the "world's most integrated, smartest, fastest and coolest technologies."

"Spending right now for manufacturing technology products is pretty strong," states Dave Burns, COO and president of metal and sand 3-D printing giant ExOne.

This could mean some very good things for manufacturing. Technology providers will come home with orders, ready to make new machines for new customers...  and those customers will come home ready to install new tools.

This spells a major win for global manufacturing.
