Federal-Mogul Rebrands Aftermarket Business

New Federal-Mogul Motorparts includes name-brand products, components for OEMs Global platform MOOG, Champion, Wagner, ANCO brands Exec slights trends

Federal-Mogul Holdings Corporation rebranded its Vehicle Components division as Federal-Mogul Motorparts, a portfolio of branded aftermarket auto parts that includes MOOG, Fel-Pro, Champion, Wagner, ANCO, and Ferodo, along with brake, chassis, and wiper components supplied to OEMs and automotive Tier suppliers. The Michigan-based manufacturer said the change is “the next step” in its global expansion strategy.

Since September 2012, Federal-Mogul has been organized as two business units, Federal-Mogul Powertrain and Federal-Mogul Vehicle Component Solutions, each with its own CEO reporting to the board of directors. The Powertrain unit manufactures produces pistons, cylinder liners, valves, bearings, and numerous other components for automotive and commercial vehicle powertrains.

The Motorparts unit has been expanded by some of Federal-Mogul Holdings’ recent acquisitions, including Affinia chassis components, Honeywell Friction Components, and DZV Bearings Company, a Russian parts producer.

"For more than a century, we have remained focused on providing the highest quality components across each of the product categories and regions we serve,” offered Daniel Ninivaggi, CEO of Federal-Mogul Motorparts, and co-CEO of Federal-Mogul Holdings. “Vehicle manufacturers recognize this, as our friction products are found on seven of the top 10 vehicle models in Europe, and the best-selling vehicle in North America.”

The CEO underscored Federal-Mogul’s commitment to product safety and quality, and he seemed to criticize competing auto parts manufacturers management strategies: “Notwithstanding recent trends in some aftermarket categories, our unrelenting focus going forward will be to support our premium products and clearly communicate their advantages to our channel partners, professional service technicians and consumers," Ninivaggi said.
