Bluffton Motor Buys Motion Control Manufacturer

Indiana-based Bluffton Motor Works reported that its affiliate, DC Products Group, has acquired RAE Corporation, a manufacturer of high-performance motion control motors, controllers, and gear motors for industrial and commercial applications.

The terms of the deal were not announced.

"We are excited by having the RAE team in the Bluffton family,” according to David Nussear, Bluffton Motors president. “They provide excellent engineering, product designs, manufacturing, customer service and are a good fit with the Bluffton organization. This synergy between the companies will enable our mutual customers to benefit from a wide selection of value-added products from a single source."

Bluffton custom designs and manufactures AC fractional and integral horsepower motors and gear motors. Its electric motors range from 1/20 to 5 horsepower in 56, 48 or 36 frame ratings with open, enclosed or explosion-proof enclosures. It also offers a washdown duty motors, including patented HydroDuty stainless steel motors and HydroWash and Picker Plus epoxy wash-down motors.

In addition to its motor and controller products, RAE, headquarters in McHenry, Ill., also develops its own designs, and offers application-engineering support, and offers quality assurance and customer service on its products.

Bluffton explained the acquisition complements its own line of industrial and commercial grade AC motors, gear motors and speed reducers. And, being a part of the Bluffton organization will improve RAE's standing in the fractional DC motor and gear motor markets by enhancing its lean manufacturing programs, adopting Six Sigma tools, and introducing manufacturing flow improvements.
