Mills feature live spindles

Giddings & Lewis has introduced a new line of floortype,-horizontal boring mills that have live spindles for drilling and tapping and extended reach for boring operations.
Giddings & Lewis has introduced a new line of floortype,-horizontal boring mills that have live spindles for drilling and tapping and extended reach for boring operations. Giddings & Lewis's FT and FTR Series of horizontal boring mills have Z-axis extensions that let the live spindles use shorter standard tools to improve machine cutting. The company says the mills are cost effective. Also, Giddings & Lewis says the machines' contouring heads and feedout tools reduce setups and improve cycle times for parts with complex geometries. The FTR mills have collinear rams for machining operations that need extended W-axis reach. www.giddings.com
