Daewoo Introduces New Vertical Machining Center

Doosan Infracore (www.daewoomt.com) has introduced the DMV 6030 vertical machining center with wide box type guideways that the company says provide long-term rigidity and accuracy. The guideways are induction hardened and precision ground.

A fluoroplastic resin is bonded to the mating surfaces and then hand scraped to ensure a perfect fit with ideal lubricant flow. The table is fully supported by the saddle in all positions with no table overhang.

A cartridge-type spindle accepts heavy-duty CAT40 tooling. It's supported on both sides by six permanently grease-lubricated, class P4 angular contact spindle bearings. The spindle is driven by a 35 hp motor at speeds up to 12,000 rpm and 121 ft/lbs of torque. Power is transferred to the spindle by a heavy duty Eagle belt to eliminate slippage. A refrigerated spindle cooling system maintains a constant operating temperature.

The DMV 6030 is equipped with a heavy-duty 29.5 in. (749.3 mm) by 63 in. (1600 mm) table with a 3,300 lb load capacity. It's moved along the x, y, and z axes by center mounted, double-pretensioned ball screws that are supported on each end by high precision, angular-contact thrust bearings. This design provides +/-0.00020 in. positioning accuracy and +/-0.00008 in. positioning repeatability. Flexible couplings on each axis protect the ball screw from sudden impacts. Tools are supplied by a 30-station, random memory, doublearm automatic tool changer.

The completely enclosed DMV 6030 confines chips and fluids to the machining area. Chips fall to a forward mounted chip pan. The 79 gallon coolant tank is isolated from the machine bed to prevent heat transfer. Through the spindle coolant and high volume flood coolant are both standard.

Travels for the DMV 6030 are 60 in. (1524 mm) by 30 in. (762 mm) by 24.6 in. (624.8 mm) (x -y -z).
