Collet chucks improve machine parameters

Command Tooling Systems says a recessed nosepiece design gives its DR (ER) 32 Shorty collet chucks short projections that improve machining parameters for small vertical machining centers and multiplex turning machines. The company says tests have shown a three-fold improvement in feeds and speeds when compared with conventional collet chucks. The Shorty chucks feature a near-flush collet nut that nearly eliminates tool overhang while improving accuracy and enhancing tool rigidity. Collet pockets are concentric to the spindle taper to 0.0002-inches TIR and place tools on spindle centerlines. Taper tolerances are AT3 or better. www.commandtool.com
