Optimizing automotive machining with new functions, incorporating new capabilities derived from ‘Big Data’
Machine tool and manufacturing technology giant MAG IAS GmbH presented highlights of its process developments and research activities at EMO Milano 2015, which concluded last month.

As a system supplier for OEMs — notably in the European automotive sector — MAG marshals the capabilities of its various brands to improve production processes, to develop more optimal production sequences for finished products, and to conceive and research more efficient uses and applications for technology. Results of all these efforts were on display at EMO Milano 2015, including new functional capabilities for crankshaft machining; new possibilities for applying integrated honing in automotive machining and finishing operations; and practical research in line with the Industry 4.0 (and by analogy, the Industrial Internet of Things) initiative.
