Tornos US offers high quality, Swiss precision turning centers. The complete line of single spindle systems covers part diameters from 2-32 mm with short setup times, flexibility and reliability. The Sigma 20 BioPak is designed to meet the demands of the North American medical industry. The Sigma 20 Pursuit is designed to fight back against global competition in the general engineering market.

What makes all Tornos machines unique is their ability to produce perfect parts that require no de-burring or secondary finishing operations. Tornos’ done-in-one capability allows you to load all of your tools in one machine with one setup and get flawless parts the first time - saving you time and money. Simultaneous machining allows you to split operations 100 percent between the equally powerful front and back spindles. Another unique Tornos advantage is thread whirling – which eliminates the need for thread cutting and tapping, and produces clean contours without burrs. Additionally, the tools in use have a longer life span generating lower machining time and making tool breakage a thing of the past.

Tornos’ user-friendly programming software, TB-DECO, enables simple, quick, logical and ergonomic programming of parts on your PC. In the software, operators can see a real time simulation of the part being turned and can make on-the-fly adjustments to improve quality and time.

Customer Service
Tornos is 100 percent committed to customer service. Tornos has organized a 24/7-customer service program that allows customers to fill out a short online service request form and all of the details entered will then immediately be sent electronically to a Tornos Team Member on call any time day or night. A new preventative maintenance program has also been implemented, providing you with the competitive edge needed to stay one step ahead. Tornos has formulated a trade-up program that allows you to trade-in older equipment for new, state-of-the-art machines. All these programs can be accessed via the new US website at www.tornos.us.

Creating Clarity
Tornos US has also implemented a new SAP business management software system to help optimize orders and deliveries for customers across North America. And a new tradeshow presentation called the Virtual DECO contains a three-minute movie on the Swiss turning process and gives customers and prospects a closeup view of Tornos’ latest products.

About the company
Tornos’ history goes back to the year 1880, which saw production of the first machines used to turn small parts for the Swiss watch industry in the Moutier region of Switzerland. In the ‘60s and ‘70s, three local companies - Tornos, Bechler and Petermann - merged to form a single group called Tornos-Bechler. Tornos is now one of the leading Swiss turning manufacturers, always striving to provide the market with radically new solutions and unrivalled performance. With its recent acquisition of Esco S.A., Tornos plans to optimize the sales and support of the coil-fed Swiss turning centers. One of the biggest advances in serving customers is the introduction of Tornos’ new Centers of Excellence – with three new facilities across the US, (Connecticut, Illinois and California); three new facilities in Asia; three new facilities in Europe; and a new 70,000 square foot demo/training facility in Moutier, Switzerland, all to provide you with the best support and customer service in the industry. In 2006, Tornos contributed 13 MCHF to R&D to support future growth.

Mission
Five values make up Tornos’ mission to provide the best products and service possible – user-friendliness, value for money, leading technology (quality and precision), Swiss stability and caring for our customers. Tornos strives to serve all industries including: automotive, medical, electronic and precision parts. With the implementation of Tornos’ service-oriented programs, sales numbers are up 200 percent since 2006. Launching a new “Original Thinking” North American marketing campaign extension – aligned with the global Think Parts Think Tornos branding statement. The “Original Thinking” campaign builds on the recognition in North America of Tornos as “The Original Swiss Turning Machine” and extends that idea to encompass all the ways Tornos US is embracing new ideas
