Kyocera Industrial Ceramics Corp., Cutting Tool Division, has introduced a new cutting tool that the company said provides an economical way to cut ring grooves to meet American Petroleum Institute (API) standards.

The OTM API Ring Groover is designed for the oil, gas and petrochemical industries, where the quality and reliability of ringjoint gasket sealing in flanged pipe connections has a significant influence on costs, profitability, safety and environmental protection.

The unit is designed to cut quality grooves with high speed productivity and repeatability and is recommended for high temperature and high pressure applications. Its features include easy setup and adjustment, a free-gutting geometry that delivers fine surface finish and repeatability and an integral CAT 50 shank for high rigidity.
